We all deal with fear...

Hello Readers -

June is here, the kids are getting out of school and summer is upon us. It’s hard to believe. I hope that the warmer weather allows you some time for vacation, rest and relaxation.

The response to May’s newsletter was overwhelmingly positive. April from Gainesville, GA was the lucky winner of last month’s give away book. Be sure to check out this month’s offer.

This issue is filled with information on overcoming fear, something almost all of us deal with at some point in our lives. I pray it will provide you with insight and beneficial information.

Warmly In Christ -

Laura

What Is Your Fear Factor?

by Laura Petherbridge

It happened again. I recently had to have another root canal. Just typing the words makes me a bit nauseous. If you are like me there is one area in life that is your “Achilles heel.” It’s an area of weakness where fear can take hold. For me, it’s the dentist’s chair.

There are many causes for fear to become a stronghold. I’ve experienced a great deal of pain during dental treatment, and if I let the memories linger they paralyze me with anxiety.

Ask Laura - Q&A

Question:

My life is filled with the fear that something bad will happen to me. Is there a way to stop worrying?

Answer

This week within the span of 4 hours I received news about: a dear friend who was diagnosed with a serious illness, a former pastor whose mom died, and a  pastor friend who left his wife for another woman.  Although each of these circumstances is different, they represent life.

Recognizing that there isn’t a person, place or thing that couldn’t be gone within the next 30 seconds should help us to place our trust in the only anchor that never moves, Jesus Christ. This shouldn’t promote fear, but comfort. People and circumstances may change, and we may suffer horrible loss. However, God promises that he will never leave us, or become unfaithful. Worshipping the One who is incapable of changing, trusting in His sovereignty, and repeating over and over the scriptures that speak of His character, is the only way to find true peace this side of heaven.

Write Bible verses that focus on God’s provision onto 3x5 cards and keep them with you at all times. Whenever fear or worry start to creep into your mind, replace those thoughts with the truth of God’s Word. With time you will begin to relax and feel safe knowing that your heavenly Daddy has every circumstance under His care.

Moving from Fear to Freedom by Grace Fox

Fear has two sides - an upside and a downside. The downside is that it can hold women hostage, robbing us of joy and preventing us from experiencing life as God intended. But the upside....that's a different story. The very fears we face can become catalysts for personal growth and opportunities to know the Lord in a more intimate way. Filled with real-life stories and loaded with Scripture, this book promises to lead its readers from fear to freedom.
