Dear Friends,
Happy New Year!!
For those of you who diligently watch for my newsletter you probably wondered where I’ve been. The answer—Life Happened!! My sweet husband, Steve, lost his job in October due to downsizing. Therefore, life has been very crazy. We presently have our home up for sale and are praying for God’s wisdom and direction for the next step. We appreciate any and all prayers.
Right after Steve’s job loss he received a book entitled, “Experience God as Your Provider” (Moody) by Brian Kluth. It has been such a huge inspiration and comfort to us that I wanted to offer it as part of the contest resource. I highly encourage you to obtain this book. It is wonderful. www.GodIsYourProvider.com
Since I spend a lot of time on the road, and travel isn’t as enjoyable as it once was, in this issue I’m sharing a few travel tips that might assist you.
Enjoy!

The door was ready to close on my plane headed from Orlando to Seattle. I was pleased to notice that most rows consisted of passengers looking out the window, and seated in the aisle, with the middle spot vacant. However, I was even more fortunate on this lengthy flight. My spouse had an affair and we are trying to reconcile our marriage. It’s been 4 months and although I desire a healed marriage I’m still so deeply hurt. Why is it taking so long to recover? |
|
 |
When a betrayal of this magnitude occurs in a marriage it takes a very long time to restore the union. If friends or family are saying that you should “be over it” already they are giving you bad advice. It’s important not to wallow in self pity, but it is equally important to take small steps toward rebuilding the trust.
Visit a good counselor who understands the complex and sensitive issues associated with an affair. This person should be giving each of you homework, resources, and steps of accountability. In addition you’ll need to learn how to overcome the fear of being hurt again. All of this takes time, training and solid counsel. A crack has occurred in the foundation of your home. A quick fix, or band aid approach will only cause more problems down the road. In my book, “When I Do Becomes I Don’t” I have an entire chapter on reconciliation, and what is required to heal a broken marriage. |
